Hey Ya’ll!

Thanks for visiting my site! Here, you can find everything from unit plans and STEM activities to my journey of being a mom and educator!

As a middle & high school educator, nutritionist, wife, mom, and life-long learner (a fancy way of saying I’m constantly taking classes or learning new skills) life can get pretty hectic.

Follow me here to see what adventure I tackle next. You can also click on the Instagram or Twitter widgets at the top of the page to follow the ins and outs of daily life!

Digital Citizenship Course

Learning in North America resembles a Eurocentric design that has not changed for centuries and is tailored to the needs and lifestyle of non-Indigenous learners. I believe in a well-representative form of education that incorporates belonging for all and feeds a wider array of learners. Today’s world is moving in the direction of technology-centered education and there is an opportunity to make it applicable and accessible to all learners. The link below will lead you to a course I am developing on the teachings of digital citizenship (as laid out by Dr. Mike Ribble) with an implementation of Indigenous Teachings and Ways of Knowledge.

Be patient as it is a work in progress.

All About My Thinking Classroom - (SASK TC)

11 years ago, I began my teaching journey and acquired a strong passion for inquiry-based learning. I found students had the ability to gain not only academic knowledge but also life skills through inquiry-based assignments. Students could develop their problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and independence. I began signing up for every Inquiry Professional Development opportunity that I could. Cue Peter Liljedahl and the Thinking Classroom.

The PD was life-changing. I was filled with new energy for teaching! The very next day I briefed my class on what I had learned and that we were going to try this together and just JUMP IN! A 60-minute class was completed in 37 minutes, we were all shocked and the kids were motivated to keep going so I moved into the next day’s lesson and completed that one too; all in the 60-minute class period.

Now I share my lessons, experiments, and units on Instagram and this platform to allow everyone access to the life-altering teaching structure that is Thinking Classroom.
