This hands-on STEM craft is the perfect way to get students excited about Valentine’s Day while simultaneously engaging in critical thinking and problem-solving in a fun environment.

Students work on this Valentine's Day STEM activity in groups to encourage group discussion and sharing of learning. By the end of the class, they will have built a cardboard heart launcher to use in a competition against other teams. This simple craft for Valentine's day is easy to comprehend and quick to make while having fun with high student engagement.

The lesson begins with an engagement activity, followed by a demonstration of the finished piece, and then students work in groups to create their own. The lesson ends with students competing in a STEM challenge using their finished products.

You can use this sTEM activity at any time of the year. Just have students cut out other shapes, instead of hearts, to shoot out of their launcher.
