832 Major Project: Failure

After some development since my last point, frustration, reading and more searching, I scrapped the entire platform and project I was working on.

Yup, you read that right.

I attempted to use WIX to set up an online site that any educator could access but, my oh my, was it SLOW and was taking too long to develop. I even tried going to different places to see if it was my internet connection (I went to my sister’s as they are huge gamers and have the best internet connection and speed that money can buy) but that didn’t help. I tried using different devices, thinking it was maybe my crumby Chromebook - nope. So I abandoned the project and began searching elsewhere.

A few days after tossing the original LMS, I received an email from my blog site subscription newsletter saying it now offered an LMS system that could be used for various needs, one of which was offering courses (paid and free). I logged in and after some testing, I decided to give it a go! It took some adjusting to get used to how it operated and the options it offered me but overall I was impressed. I also liked that I wouldn’t have to cross my fingers hoping that whatever I used could be opened by my peers and professor.

I have created some lessons and added a few features but I’m not sure I’m completely happy with the outcome so far. I love the platform and the creativity it offers but I think I’m lacking a holistic dynamic that I want to incorporate. Will I have that figured out by the time it is due? I’m not sure - unlikely. What I am hoping is that I can content and meaning across in a way that I feel satisfied with the message and quality by the time it is due. Then, as I continue to learn, I can adjust and develop it. I believe it will continue to be a work in progress for quite some time. I’m even hoping to eventually link it to other projects I have completed and another I’m currently working on.

I know this is a very vague update but thought I’d share in case anyone else is feeling stressed about having a failed first (or 10th) attempt at anything right now.
